Q&A With Tatiana Alida

Introduce yourself and what you do?

Hi, my name is Tatiana Alida, I am an illustrator, designer. I am London based and I work with paper and paint and lots of other things.

What was the inspiration for this collection?

The inspiration for this collection came from a series I did a few months ago called the cocktail series. The Warehouse team really loved them so we thought we’d kind of translate those into more of a Christmassy vibe. We got the Negroni please and we made it Christmassy, with tinsel and festive colours.

How do you create your illustrations?

I create all my illustrations on paper first and then I use oil pastels, watercolours, acrylic and then we will typically photograph them and slightly adjust them on photoshop if they need it.

Where do you usually get your inspiration?

My inspiration comes from magazines, books; I keep everything I have ever done so I’ve got a big archive of a lot of different bits and bobs. I go through there sometimes to reignite ideas. I also get a lot of inspiration from Instagram.

Talk us through the collaborative process?

I was super excited because I’ve grown up with Warehouse; I’ve always shopped there. We started off with t-shirts but progressed to do some really fun Christmas jumpers. I designed a bunch of ideas and then we adjusted them until we are both happy with the final products.

What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

My favourite thing about Christmas has to be Christmas parties, it’s an excuse to get up, have some fun and be naughty as well.

How will you be styling the jumpers?

I will be styling my Christmas jumpers with oversized denim jeans or a leather skirt to go out.

Who is your icon?

My icon is Josephine Baker; I just think she is an incredible woman.
