This collection pulls together denim shorts, cargo trousers, corsets and crochet, chunky boots, cross body bags and bucket hats, in indigo, black, khaki and washed colour. A field at four in the afternoon and the same field at ten at night ask for different things, which is where layers earn their keep: cotton over cotton, a denim jacket, something you can tie round your waist and forget about. Print sits well against plain denim. Crochet over a bikini top works in daylight and again at the bar. Leather-look boots take mud far better than they look like they will. Nothing here is precious, and that is most of the appeal, because the best of it comes home and carries on afterwards: the shorts in July, the boots in October, the bag every weekend after that. Dress for the weekend, not for the photographs.
