Black is where most people start, so a mesh midi over a jersey slip with a bare heel and a single gold cuff has dinner handled. A printed mesh maxi wants flat sandals and a woven bag in summer, then a knee-high boot and opaque tights once the weather turns. Layer a fine knitted vest over a long-sleeve mesh dress and the sheerness becomes a detail rather than the point, which also makes it work on a Tuesday at the office. For a birthday dinner or a wedding after-party, add long earrings and leave everything else plain. Sleeve setting and seam finish are worth a second look, since mesh shows construction immediately.
